Deepika Padukone deletes her all Twitter and Instagram posts

Actress-producer Deepika Padukone left millions of her fans in shock as she deleted all her tweets and Instagram posts on night of 31st December. The ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ actress shared her audio diary on social media on Friday which she described as ‘a record of my thoughts and feelings’.

Sharing it across her different social media platforms, Deepika Padukone wrote: “It’s 1.1.2021! Happy New Year Everyone! What are you grateful for?” Deepika told her fans about the things that she is grateful for. Deepika’s fans were thrilled to the see the actress back on social media and filled up the comments section of her post with lots of love.

In the audio note, Deepika Padukone said, “Hi everyone, welcome to my audio diary, a record of my thoughts and feelings. I am sure all of you will agree with me but 2020 was a year of uncertainty for everybody. But for me, it was also about gratitude and about being present. As for 2021, all I can wish for myself and for everyone around me is good health and peace of mind. Happy New Year.”

She has often been for the receiving end of both love and hate on social media, has never shied away from posting things online. Be it her Instagram PDA with actor husband Ranveer Singh or de-stigmatising mental illness through her posts.

2020 was an eventful year for Deepika Padukone as she turned producer with Meghna Gulzar’s directorial ‘Chhapaak’ which showed true story of an acid attack survivor. The film was well received by the audience and critics.

Padukone also attended a protest for students who were brutalised during the 2020 JNU Attack due to their protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Members of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party criticised her decision and asked people to boycott her film ‘Chhapaak’. Many others praised her for standing up against a crackdown on dissent, as mainstream Bollywood actors avoid making political statements fearing backlash and consequences on their film.

In the second half of the year, Deepika was questioned by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case. The alleged chat of Deepika Padukone with her then manager Karishma Prakash in October 2017 was the main reason behind the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to summon her. After her name emerged in the case, she was heavily trolled on social media due to that, she stayed away from media glare and social media for several months.

On professional front, Deepika will be seen in Shakun Batra’s untitled film along with Ananya Panday and Sidhant Chaturvedi. Deepika is also rumoured to be a part of Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Pathan’, to be produced by Yash Raj Films.

Ranveer and Deepika are awaiting the release of their fourth film together, ‘83’. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film chronicles the Indian cricket team’s unexpected victory at the 1983 World Cup. While Ranveer plays former captain Kapil Dev, Deepika will essay his wife Romi Bhatia. The film has an ensemble cast, including Boman Irani, Pankaj Tripathi, Saqib Saleem, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu and many others.
