Bollywood reacted to the verdict of Supreme court on 377
Bollywood celebrities welcomed 377 verdict. India became a free nation in 1947, but the idea of freedom is still a far-fetched dream for many. Well, call it a step towards progress as one section of the society finally got its due right. The Supreme Court of India has decided that the nation is done with the adversity that was section 377. After a long debate, the Hon’ble court has finally called the decision in favour of the LGBT community. The stigma in the society will be repealed too, soon. But right now is the time for all of us to celebrate for this monumental decision that will go down in history. Which is exactly what Bollywood is doing.
Chief Justice of India, Dipak Mishra has gave a statement, which read, “No one can escape from their individualism. Society is now better for individualism. In the present case, our deliberations will be on various spectrums.” Well, here are a few more words from the allies of the LGBTQ community from B-Town that sure are going to make a difference in the world. The journey begins now. With the law, the society will change soon enough.
The Supreme Court hearing was led by a bench of five awesome judges – Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra and Justices R F Nariman, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and Indu Malhotra who have unanimously decriminalised the section 377. Earlier, The Centre has submitted a three-page affidavit to the Supreme Court and said that they have left the decision solely upon the Hon’ble court. Guess, the government was also in the mood of letting go of this Colonial law. Before this India belonged to the last 71 countries where indulging in sexual activity with someone of the sex was considered criminal.
Sanity prevails for once we can believe we have some sensible decision makers and lawmaker s available to this generation. #Section377 gone with the wind.
