Dushyant Kapoor feels superheroes really exists

Dushyant Kapoor is  known Indian Film Director, Producer & Creator known for his superhero content “Mahakaal, Suitboy & Boom” with an extended vision of showcasing his other popular superhero characters named “Naari, Halt, Narayan & SHE “.

His most popular work is “Corona Short Film & Suitboy this year.”. His recent short film with Bollywood Actor Maniesh Paul “Message from God” was critically acclaimed.  Gossipganj has an exclusive chat with Dushyant Kapoor.

Gossipganj – Tell us about your journey? When and why did you start making content based on  superheroes?

Dushyant Kapoor – I have started dreaming about my career in film making from childhood. I used to recreate some of my favourite characters when I was 10. And as I told, I loved superhero movies, superhero characters they used to influence me a lot they inspire me.

But nowadays no-one really wants to create something real something that can inspire people, we have been given this platform to reach mass audience and people are only using it to earn money.

In last 10 years, only a few movies has been produced in Bollywood about superheroes. This is what pushed me to make superheroes content.

Gossipganj – Do you feel superhero exists?

Dushyant Kapoor – I do. I feel they really exists and are waiting for a right time to come as the world is not ready for such supernatural events. I believe 2020 is the beginning because everything about year 2020 is supernatural.

I have read in books that there were supernatural events in history. I believe they were true and all they need is facts.

Gossipganj – Fiction stories influence a lot in minds especially  the young  your views on that ?

Dushyant Kapoor – Definitely. Cinema and every kind of fiction stories influence a lot. We love to watch fantasies and live with them but we must know the truth, we must know what’s real and what’s reel.

Youth nowadays are all about social media and fantasies. And as a film maker, I believe it’s my duty to show them the right path towards humanity.  And most of these creators should take it as a responsibility towards the youth.

Gossipganj – What do you love the most about the different characters you play?

Dushyant Kapoor – Most of the stories that I pick to perform are very insightful. I learn from them. And while performing I make sure I portray the knowledge that I gained. I have played Narad in Mahakaal, Suitboy, scientist in 2020 End of the world film & Washi in Corona 2049.

But the character that I truely loved is Narad. Though people have known Narad quite differently, mainly as a journalist. But In ancient times he was more than that. Narad has taught us the actual right. The universal truths. The science.

Gossipganj – You recently made a show on ‘Doraemon’ tell us about that ?

Dushyant Kapoor – I am a big fan of Doraemon.  I watched it many times.When the last episode of Doraemon came on Youtube, I downloaded it in a Cyber Cafe and watched it at home.

It was so amazing. I was in tears. I wanted to make this a film with real characters. But I was too young and I didn’t have access to many equipment. I was in the 6th class then.

Recently during the lock down I got a lot of time to think about my past and I got a chance to revive one of my dream to make this film. I wonder why nobody has ever tried to make that in 15 years. But yeah I tried and people really appreciated. I am happy.

Gossipganj – Who’s your real life doraemon, who inspired you to be what you are today ?

Dushyant Kapoor – Not just Doraemon, I have his sister Dorami too, my elder sister “Neelam” always inspired me to do great things. She used to help me in every way. 

I still remember she allowed me to use her digi-cam which was gifted to her by dad. She pushed me to become what I have become. She is the Dorami to my Nobita.

Gossipganj – How do you prepare for your roles before getting in front of a camera ?

Dushyant Kapoor – I work hard. I make myself believe that it’s not the character it’s the real me in the script, this is what happened to me and I have to feel and behave like this.

This is also called method acting. One thing that I do daily in the morning is to practice with my voice in front of the mic and take samples and then analyse which one would be better and every night I practice face expressions in front of the mirror.

Gossipganj – One superhero that you look up to & Why?

Dushyant Kapoor – Mahakaal, because Mahakaal is someone who has struggled to become what he has become. Someone who is trying to find his destiny, trying to fit in the society like us. We all are trying to find out the meaning of life. He taught us the true meaning of life.
