Lindsay Lohan says women who speak about sexual assault look weak
Lindsay Lohan says women who speak about sexual assault look weak.Lindsay Lohan has shared her thoughts on Hollywood’s #MeToo movement, criticising the women who share their stories of sexual assault and harassment. In an interview with The Times, Lohan began by saying she “couldn’t speak on something she didn’t live”, but went on to claim women who do talk about their experiences “look weak”.
Last year, Lohan made headlines for defending disgraced movie executive Harvey Weinstein amidst a raft of sexual assault accusations against him. Now, she’s sounding off on the idea that victims of sexual abuse are telling their stories for attention.”You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention,” she added. “That is taking away from the fact that it happened.” Lohan is currently promoting her new MTV reality series, Lohan Beach Club, which follows her around the Greek island of Mykonos.
“I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women,” she said. Depsite her assertion that she’s “very supportive of women”, the Mean Girls star added that she felt there was a specific time and place to be open about sexual misconduct. “If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment,” she said. “You make it a real thing by making it a police report.”
Earlier Paris Hilton has called out Lindsay Lohan on Instagram after a nostalgia account posted a video showing the Mean Girls star saying the hotel heiress “hit” her, before later changing her story. It appears the former ‘it girls’ mid-2000s feud is alive and well.
Paris wrote “#PathologicalLiar” in comments under the compilation of old paparazzi footage, followed by a laughing emoji. Instagram account paris2000s uploaded the clip, captioning it: “the chronicles of the 00s troubled star Lindsay Lohan and her chaotic backtracking situations”. The video begins with a testimonial from Lindsay, where she alleges Paris assaulted her with a drink.
