The roka ceremony took place according to Punjabi tradition at Priyanka’s residence on Saturday morning. While Nick Jonas popped the question in London in July and Priyanka Chopra said yes, the couple now solemnised their engagement with their families present. Arpita Khan Sharma, one of Priyanka Chopra’s closest friends, arrived for her engagement. Arpita arrived in a pretty pink suit to join her friend on her big day. The two are often seen together on dinner dates and Priyanka was one of the first people to pay Arpita a visit when her son, Aahil was born. The invitation also suggests that all is well between Priyanka and Salman after she quit his film Bharat merely 10 days before her portion of shoot was to begin.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas never confirmed their romantic relationship, but here we are, three months after they were first spotted together, reportedly engaged. On Friday, Jonas arrived in India for what is rumoured to be their official engagement party.
Initial rumours of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’ engagement came from the unlikeliest of sources – director Ali Abbas Zafar, who tweeted a few weeks ago that Priyanka had dropped out of his upcoming film with Salman Khan, Bharat. Zafar also alluded to the reason for Priyanka’s backing out might be Nick.
The ring that Nick Jonas got for Priyanka is exquisite and the world got its first look at it when Priyanka took a selfie with Raveena Tandon. According to a report in Hollywood Reporter, “It is a timeless design and features a cushion-cut diamond set in platinum with what looks like small baguette diamonds on the sides.” The gemologist added, “A ring of this size and quality would cost around $300,000,” which in Indian rupees comes to Rs 2.1 crore.
