Software engineer Harish Budhwani persuading his passion for music, Who believe, ‘Music is the best way to express your feeling’. Harish shares how his journey started, how it is now and what the future holds.

Gossipganj – When did you realise that you want to do music seriously?

Harish Budhwani – I realised my true passion towards music in my college days when I really went crazy and told myfamily but they didn’t think I was prepared for it and later with time, and after college i, too understood the reality because to everyone, on the surface this looks like a very dreamy job later I realised and in a practical way, that no, it’s way more deeper than it looks. After college, when I started working and also singing, my family was okay with it.

Gossipganj – How did the journey began?

Harish Budhwani – 2019 was a big highlight for me because before that I was in a band for 2-3 years, we used to sing Bollywood songs because then I used to think, ‘why would people listen to my music‘ but then luckily or unluckily, some of my band members went aboard for further studies and jobs. So after like 2-3-4 months of not performing, so I decided to play my original song and that’s how it happened.

I started performing in open mics and last year, motojojo’s founder was present in one of the motojojo’s event I performed in Pune and he really liked my songs and I then started managing motojojo’s gatherings in Pune. The next time he heard me sing, he loved it and in a couple of months they started touring artists all over the country and asked me to do a tour and I did!

Gossipganj – What was that point, or what was that song that made you believe that things are actually working for you?

Harish Budhwani – So, Even before that country tour, I hadn’t released any of my songs. I sang them in front of people who came to the gatherings. And during that tour, the reactions that I got, the messages and love that I received. People wanted me to release my songs ASAP and then I was like, yeah, people are listening to me and they will listen. Then I released, “Saari Umar”.

Gossipganj – You waited for 10 years to release your first song..

Harish Budhwani – Yes, it’s been 10 years since I am writing songs and I have lots of songs by now and until last year it was all about performing them, getting the reactions. Now, I thought the time is right and I decided to go for it and it’s just a first song you’ll be listening to me alot more in the coming months. This year is about releasing my music.

Gossipganj – Can you tell us about your your music making process?

Harish Budhwani – Well my music process is simple. I am able to make music only when I am mentally free and with lesser thoughts. So I try to keep myself free for some time daily, so that when I am feeling a strong emotion, I am able to express it musically without any disturbance.

Mostly, I compose, write, sing and play guitar simultaneously. But sometimes I do save the guitar part to add in some future composition.

Gossipganj – What do you mostly write about, take the inspiration from?

Harish Budhwani – In general, I have written songs about love, sadness, breakup, nature but mostly how people look at things, how we should not rush into things, live life day by day basis, how things would be if we were in a different world, what we feel. I have written about random things people can relate to, especially if you are nature lover.

Gossipganj – You also write songs, compose music and play guitar. How do you manage your multiple skills. Which is your favourite?

Harish Budhwani – I love composing the most, whether I am singing or playing an instrument, I get automatically inclined towards making something new.

When it comes to managing, I dedicate some time to practice and improve in guitar playing and singing but for composing, its natural and I think listening to different music makes me better in that.

Gossipganj – Do you think it’s a good time for the individual song artist’s?

Harish Budhwani – Yes, Even though Bollywood is doing it’s own thing, but we see individual Artist doing much better at least from the previous time, especially in cities where people have all the access to Internet and music apps. People are trying new music, getting aware. There are more music festivals coming up and they are giving more platforms to individual Artists.

I know Artist’s who are getting great response to their music, to their albums. But until last year, I didn’t think there’s much scope but now that I have dwell into it I believe it’s a good time. You see Prateek Kuhad, The local Train, Ankur Tiwari – they all started like this too but now we see them releasing something new in every few months.

Gossipganj – Any favourite singer, music composer with whom you wish you collaborate?

Harish Budhwani – Damien Rice. I love his music and personality. If anyone in India, I would love to collab with Lucky Ali.

Gossipganj – Tell us about your new song Zinda

Harish Budhwani – I wrote Zinda for myself, sitting in my room in the loud and busy city  thinking about how beautiful the nature is and how great it makes me feel about everything in my life. Maybe I was missing being in mountains or the peace that I feel during a sunset. I just wanted to get my

feelings out. So it’s kind of personal. But later when I perfomed it in my tour, I could see a lot of people connecting with me and requesting me to release it as soon as possible that’s when I decided that my second has to be this. Because may be people need this.

Music help people connect with their own emotions and listen to more songs they can relate too and I think Zinda will be once such song. The song is now out and I have got great response,  my inbox is flooded with messages from people who really connect with it. 2020 has been a tough year for everyone across the globe but in these tough times people have slowed down a little and appreciate things around them.

We have understood the value of being out and travel a lot, so I thought it’s best time to release, not just for me but for others too. I want everyone to to breath in the beautiful elements of nature around us. I want people to observe and value them.
